Orvieto, Italy
These projects will be funded through grants and the sale of my Special Limited Edition Prints:
One week in Orvieto where rabbis, imams, priests, agnostics, atheists, and hippies will convene and discuss what one day of peace looks like in their respective countries. Read more.
One week in Orvieto at my home, Nuovo Inizio a di Casa Therese (Fresh Start at the home of Therese) where wounded warriors will learn photography, tax planning from my CPA, and how to build a website and market their self-employed photography businesses. Read more.
One week in Orvieto where two teachers from Israel and Palestine will come to Nuovo Inizio and learn photography. There will be no discussion of politics or religion, just fun, food, laughs and love. These teachers, I hope, will return home to teach photography to their students. Read more.
It came to me quite simply. As a photojournalist on assignment with reporters I learned to stay small and quiet. That is only partially true. If one stays small and quiet it is only then, in the silence, can you hear a heart break.
The best interviewers I know are the best listeners. When I listen, I learn. When I learn, I love. Love is so many things. It is patient. It is kind. It is gentle. At its best, love keeps no accounts.
I love Colorado and its seasons. The turquoise sky with those white puffy clouds, the young mint-green leaves as they pop on aspen branches in early Spring, the dry hot summer days as they yield to the cool evenings, the first snowfall that insulates the city’s hum so I can listen and learn and love.
I love Orvieto. It is a medieval hilltop town about an hour north of Roma. Orvieto is like Disneyland. Except the magic is real.
Welcome to Orvieto, my next season, and blueheART STUDIOS FOUNDATION.
